WHAT ARE THE SAN ANTONIO ROSES?
The San Antonio Roses are independent professional cheerleaders for San Antonio.  They consist of ladies's who are multi-talented with a background in dance and cheerleading.  We exist to train individuals to be professional sports entertainers by performing and appearing at local events and offer the opportunity for on-field experience as a semi-pro cheerleader for local minor league teams.
WHAT ARE THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR JOINING THE SAN ANTONIO ROSES?
You must be physically fit and trim.
You must be a High School Graduate or have a G.E.D.
You must live in the San Antonio area and have your own transportation.
You must be minimum 18 years old.
You should have a dance and/or cheerleading background, but is not required.
You must have an email address for communication.
HOW DO I JOIN THE SAN ANTONIO ROSES?
Mail or email your completed application, non-returnable photo, and the non-returnable $20 application fee.  If qualified, you will be contact via email for an interview with the director.  During your training as a San Antonio Rose you are evaluated to determine your placement within the San Antonio Roses.  Currently we have a "Training Squad", "Promotional Squad" and "Performance Squad".
WHAT DO I NEED FOR AUDITIONS?
Be prepared with a short introduction speech.
Be prepared to ad lib dance for 1 minute.
Be ready to learn a dance and a kick line combination to perform in front of judges.
Audition attire is a 2-piece outfit (sports bra and hot pants), skin colored hose, dance sneakers.
Wear your hair loose, wear makeup, and no jewelry.
CAN YOU BE MARRIED AND BE A MEMBER OF THE SAN ANTONIO ROSES?
Yes.  Keep in mind the required time commitment.  If applicable, be sure that you have reliable childcare.
ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT AND WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS?
We do not have a minimum or maximum height or weight requirement.  However you should look well proportioned and physically fit.  The uniform consists of a cropped top and short skirt.  Your midriff will be visible.
SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT MY APPEARANCE AS A MEMBER OF THE SAN ANTONIO ROSES?
Absolutely!  A professional image is a big part of pro cheerleading and is generally requested by sponsors and any associated team with which we contract.  We will help you achieve the required "look".  Visible tattoos and body & tongue piercing jewelry (with exception of approved earrings) are not allowed.  We require all San Antonio Roses to cover all visible tattoos and remove all body & tongue piercing jewelry while in uniform, at practice, or while representing the San Antonio Roses.
WHEN ARE PRACTICES / EVENTS / GAMES?
As of this writing, practices are held Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.  All San Antonio Roses practice together. Events and games are usually held on the weekends but can vary.
WHAT ARE MY EXPENSES FOR BEING A MEMBER OF THE SAN ANTONIO ROSES?
There is a small monthly studio fee for all members of the San Antonio Roses.  This fee will be used to cover basic operational costs like uniforms and other miscellaneous items required for appearances and performances.  We try hard to avoid having members spend additional money on required items other than personal items like makeup, hose, and undergarments.  If a special event expense arises which requires additional funds, we may hold some type of fundraiser.
DO I GET PAID AS A MEMBER OF THE SAN ANTONIO ROSES?
The San Antonio Roses appear and perform at many community and charity events throughout San Antonio.  Many will be voluntary.  However, there will be opportunities for paid promotions.  Do not consider this pay your primary source of income.  As a San Antonio Roses member, you will receive sponsor benefits with complementary services or discounts.  Your uniforms are provided for your tenure.  Members will have a photo shoot and a CD portfolio will be provided after you complete one year.
CAN I AUDITION FOR ASSOCIATED SQUADS?
The San Antonio Roses contract with local minor league football teams to provide them a cheerleading/promotional squad for their season.  In order to audition for these squads you need meet the following criteria:

1. You must be a "Performance Squad" member
2. You must be a current San Antonio Roses member in good standing
3. You must commit time for the full season which can be as long as one year
4. You must have Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays open for practices and events

CAN MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS ATTEND PRACTICE, EVENTS, OR WATCH THE AUDITIONS?
All practices and auditions are closed to the public. Some of our events are private and are closed to the general public. For those events that are opened to the public your family and friends may attend but you should avoid having family and friends around you during events.
